Artifact #1: Inspiring Product Progression

Summary of Project:

When working on projects we often make subtle changes here and there until we come up with a product that we like, but we often forget how our work progressed over time from something rough to something much better. Whether in writing, architectural design, or graphic design, it’s important to see not just the final product, but the the beginning and every step in between to see the good changes made and the bad ones and to see if some things should be changed back to how they were.

In this PowerPoint presentation I show the progression of a graphic design concept I made for encouraging online communication. You can see the original idea and the final idea, as well as a few middle drafts. This is very useful to show students that first drafts are not always going to be the best work they come up with.

This project meets the requirements for Standard 1 by:

  • demonstrating creative changes in an ongoing process.
  • demonstrating reflection and innovation in making logical, intelligent changes
  • demonstrating real world problem solving ideas (specifically around graphic design and advertising)
  • demonstrating an authentic problem solved using with digital tools

Though feedback from others was not discussed in this presentation, it’s implied by the discussed changes made which helped to provide direction in my changes.
