Summary of Project:
In technology, students are frequently asked to look at the past, present, and possible future of technology innovation. One neat assignment I took part in while at WOU was a reading and re-writing assignment where I read “The Wondrous World of 1990” which is an article from the Jan. 30, 1967 issue of US News and World Report about what life would be like 23 years down the road. After reading the article and viewing some of the technologies that are coming around right now, I wrote my own take on the same article, written in the same format, but looking 23 years into today’s future, to the year 2036. It was an interesting concept, mimicking someone else’s style, thinking about the future, and providing evidence of my predictions.
This project meets the requirements for Standard 1 by:
- Modeling creative thinking
- Modeling the exploration of real world issues (current technological advancements)
- Model reflection of and conceptual understanding
